Have you used it for pompano fishing and what rig would you recommend. I use your fort peirce store n the winter
Are “two handed” rods the same as spey rods? If not what is the difference? I know there is a difference in loading the rod.
I use a 10wt, 13' spey rod to surf fish
Thanks for sharing
Do you have a video on how to cast a Spey rod?
Great fly Dave!
What sink tip and intermediate lines would you recommend for the 13.5’ 8wt for overhead surf casting (for stripers)?
From a former FF co-worker (Fritz), excellent presentation, Dave. Glad I found this and I hope all is well.
Extremely helpful, just moved to Fla. a few months ago.
Lol
You ever you pike flys in the surf, pike flys have some similar patterns to ones used for red fish.
Jesus, are you going away for 3 months!? Or did your wife pack for you? You forgot your chum so you can catch some fish ;)
Just cast one, insanely smooth rod, incredible feel and accuracy in close , laser loops and high line speeds all the way out at long distances, this rod is a home run
What line were you casting?
I have a Sage X, 9ft for a 5. They are now £1000. It is a lovely rod, but the margins of performance, compared to a my rods in the £250 to £500 range are marginal. Sage make superb fly rods. I've owned a lot of their rods over the years and they are all star performers, but the prices are now starting to get ridiculous.
Bet he holds a spinning reel up side down
Could you do that exact rig with a hook?
Thanks for posting. Music makes fly tying sound like its a circus. Would rather hear you talk through it.
I love that cascade crest flex hackle, I'm surprised it's not used more often
Could you fish it backwards so the shrimp moves naturally?
What color marker did you use to finish it?
Great points! Looking for advice about needle point loops. What is the key to sharp needle point loops? Thanks just jim
I usually explain the ease and control of a two hand rod compared, is like the difference between digging holes with a trowel and a spade.
I fish in Juno Beach hope to get down there soon would like to visit your shop I'm going to bring my spayrod when I come down
I’m going to order you’re inshore slam kir
Kit
What air compressor do you use with the copic system?
What was the reel he had in the video?
Would have like to have seen fly’s for pompano and permit
This looks really good...can you make a more in depth video of you making the tail and the rest of the body?🤙
We made a video titled "Tying Chocklett's Game Changer Fly" that goes into detail on making the tail and body. Check it out and let us know if it doesn't any questions you might still have :) ruclips.net/video/KkD0HMXLlzw/видео.html
Very helpful. Thank you👍👍
Sweet!
An incredibly creative process to watch! We always enjoy watching! 🎣🐟😎👍
This video is for experienced anglers. It is very informative thanks
What size hook are you using
For this video we used a size 1 SC15 hook
Thank you
I'm sorry that this is a bit of a backhanded compliment. Thank you for the instructional video. The flex hackle slipped because you didn't make any trap wraps in front of it before clipping it off. Same for the brush, but I didn't see it slip. It only takes three or four trap wraps to tie it more securely, and you will have a much more durable fly. Other than that, it's a nice fly if not a knockoff of many I have seen. I realize that it takes time to track down the original, but I wish that these flies that are variations of an original would be named after the original with the variation noted. This is basically a Redfish Crack with a different collar. Having said all this, I do appreciate the time and instruction you gave to showing us this pattern.
A classic. Simply to tie and especially effective on the flats!
Great looking fly!
Bluesy artistry indeed! Love to watch the precision sir! 👍
Keep those ties coming our way!
Artistry in motion sir! Skillz indeed 👍 ps love the weekly fishing reports, much appreciated!
Wow. I need to buy one of these. I always fish the jetties and surf sometimes. How far that dude casted that blew my mind Haha
Im a 50+ year old fly fisherman with a casting shoulder that was destroyed in an accident. 2 handed rods relieve 90% of all the grunt work, false casting, and body movment; It is an epiphany whhen you use a beulah surf rod, the proper line, and learn that push pull technique. You can keep both your elbows tucked in and still pound out huge long casts..................ALL DAY. 2 handers in the surf is totally like "why didn't I ever think of this before" moment and you'll laugh when you see guys flailing their arms around for 3 false casts that wind up hitting "maybe" 70 ft; unless youre witnessing a pro; which most of us arent. good luck. give it a shot.
I like it! Quick and easy. I tend to always stack the fibers to thick. Gotta stop that.
Great video & explanation Dave. I’ve been giving this style some serious consideration. Thx.
Hi
that look rille good
Thanks again Dave. Big help to a newbie to the area like me!
Recently moved to the Jensen Beach/Stuart area and have never fly fished off the beach. Definitely want to do it and these tips will prove helpful to me. Thx!!!

Thanks and keep these tips and helping hints coming!
Great vid. Keep em' coming!
Appreciate the tips and drills. Always looking to improve my casting efficiency.
